School Uniform The School has both a Day and Ceremonial Uniform. All students are expected to wear the appropriate uniform.
Day Wear Uniform
Girls wear blue poplin dress with one inch white binding on the neckline and arm.
Boys wear blue shorts and blue poplin shirt with one inch white binding on the neckline only.
Pupils must wear the proper school uniform and will not be accepted to class if they flaunt school rules.
Ceremonial Uniform
Girls wear a White poplin dress with school tie and badge.
Boys wear White poplin long sleeved shirt, with white long trousers, school tie and badge.
Ceremonial uniform must be worn on the first day of each term and on special occasions.
Text Books The school will provide a list of approved textbooks for each class; Parents/Guardians are required to purchase all the necessary textbooks by the start of the new school year in September.
Report Cards Report Cards under the 6-3-3-4 Educational Reform, now constitute part of your child’s Continuous Assessment Record, and must be kept safely, as they can be called for at any time.
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) MUST SIGN AND RETURN THEIR CHILD/CHILDREN’S REPORT CARD A DAY AFTER THEY ARE ISSUED.
Class 6 Report Cards MUST be carried over to the Junior Secondary School of choice, and is therefore part of the officially required Continuous Assessment Record requirement.
Tuition Fees Tuition Fees include learning materials, exercise books, stationery, and annual school activities such as; Thanksgiving, Prizegiving, Sports day, PTA, etc.
At the start of each term, pupils will be told the fees due for the term. Tuition fees for each child per term are payable in full no later than the 4th week of every term. After the 4th week, children will not be able to attend classes until tuition fees are paid in full.
IMPORTANT - ALL School Fees must be paid directly into the schools' designated Bank Account. This will avoid any delay in updating your child's record with the correct payment.
Registration Registration will only be complete when the following documents are submitted.
Child’s/children’s Birth Certificate(s)
Two passport photographs and
Completed Admission Form for each child.
One-time payable registration fee.
Once accepted, each child is automatically re-registered (no fee) for the next academic year. Parents(s)/guardian(s) are liable to pay the full academic year's tuition fee on accepting the child's registration in Mereweather Preparatory School. Sports and Physical Health (PE) Education Sports and Physical Education are an important part of the curriculum. As such, Mereweather hosts its annual Sports Meeting. Parents and guardians will need to ensure their
child/children wear appropriate PE uniforms for lessons and sports events.

These classes will take place on selected days in the afternoon after regular school hours from 2.30pm to 3.45pm. Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be informed of the days their children will be required to attend these practical classes
All lower classes (Classes 1 and 2) will be required to undertake practical creative arts and crafts as part of the development of the core motor coordination and manipulative skills.
Pupils in classes from Prep 3 to Class 6 are encouraged to join at least one club. Pupils can enroll into one or more of the following existing clubs such as Cubs, Brownies, Red Cross Juniors, Scouts, Guides and Scripture Union.
Library and Resource Centre Mereweather has a small school library that gives our pupils the opportunity to improve their reading and comprehension through reading on their own.We strive for our library collection to reflect the African heritage of our children. This gives the children an opportunity of reading locally written materials to support their social studies with ethnic tales, stories, poems and rhymes.
Canteen This school operates a small canteen which provides home-made food, snacks and cold non-alcoholic drinks at subsidized prices.
W.A.E.C. National Primary School Examination (NPSE) - Class 6 only The Exam Entrance fee for this examination is a separate charge determined by W.A.E.C. - there are no charges at present. However the cost of NPSE Test papers and set of practice answer sheets cost are included in the tuition fees.
All Students must provide two passport size photographs, which are required to complete NPSE and Continuous Assessment Record requirements.
Holiday School and Remedial Classes Holiday School will be held at the end of each school year during the summer vacation. Children promoted to Classes 3 – 6 MUST ATTEND Holiday School. Assessments will be made at the end of this period, for final class placement in September.
The details for Holiday School will be given to Parents/Guardians at the end of third term.
Conduct Pupils are expected to comport themselves in a proper manner while on school premises. Pupils are expected to treat each other with kindness and respect and to follow instructions from teachers and staff.
Examples of satisfactory conduct
Obeying instructions given by the teachers and staff.
Observing school rules and regulations.
Wearing clean and proper school and ceremonial uniforms for classes and official ceremonies.
Regular and punctual attendance at school.
Examples of unsatisfactory conduct
Causing willful damage to school’s property and equipments.
Bullying and stealing.
Inattentiveness in class during teaching/instruction or during practical subjects.
Disturbing other pupils who are attentive to teacher’s instructions.
Use of obscene language inside and outside the school compound.

Dr Benjamin King (Specialist Pediatrician) at Fergusson Street.
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will be asked to refund the cost of the emergency treatment.
